Adding a Transparent Signature Stamp to the Doc.It PDF Editor
To create a transparent signature stamp:
- Start with a clean, blank piece of 8.5 by 11 inch paper and sign the center of the paper the same way and the same size as you would any document you sign manually.
- Scan the piece of paper to create a PDF.
- Save a the scanned PDF to your desktop on your computer.
- Open a different PDF, any other PDF, in the Doc.It PDF Editor.
- In the Editor, click the Document Menu and select Signature & Initials and then Manage.
- From the Manage Signatures & Initials dialog box, select From File on the Add button drop down list.
- In the browse dialog that pops up, select the scanned PDF you saved to your desktop and click OK.
- In the next pop up window give your new signature a name so you can select it from a list (some people have more than one signature).
- Decide if you want to password protect your signature and, if so, assign the password, then click OK.
- Click Close on the Manage Signatures & Initials dialog box.
At this point your PDF Editor will have your signature stamp ready to go. To apply your new transparent signature:
- Go to the Document Menu of the Doc.It PDF Editor
- Select Signatures & Initials
- Select the image of your signature (this will turn your mouse cursor into a floating, transparent version of your signature).
- Using your mouse, apply your signature to the spot on a PDF you prefer.
- Resize your signature if necessary by clicking and dragging the corner boxes surrounding your signature to make it fit properly in the desired area.
- You'll notice when you apply your signature this way that a bar appears at the top of the PDF page saying "This document contains unapplied signatures or initials. Apply All or Cancel All." Applying your signature embeds it into the PDF so others can't move, change or delete it.
